Daroco: A New Favourite in Paris

Daroco: A New Favourite in Paris

Daroco Paris

Ok, I know it is going to sound strange to recommend an incredible Italian restaurant when in Paris but bear with me. I went to visit Daroco after hearing the buzz about it and was blown away.

Daroco is based in the building of what used to be Jean-Paul Gaultier's first store, and leaves much of the original footprint in place. New, chic additions have been added such as an open kitchen, opulent velour banquet booths, and mirrored ceilings. There is an open, lofty space with tables at the front of the restaurant, with a more cozy set of tables in the back, and the very cool mezzanine where you can look down at the activity below with a bird's eye view. The servers are tres chic in Breton striped shirts designed by Le Slip Francais, and Saint James, channeling Gaultier's style. They were also incredibly friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is lively but elegant. Going in the evening makes the room a bit more magical as the warm glow from the beautiful light fixtures is lovely.

I went for a pizza, with fresh Italian ham, mushrooms, and spring onions, served on a perfectly baked crust from the wood oven piping hot. But it was the fresh, creamy, melt-in-your-mouth fior di latte on the pizza that is nothing short of heavenly. There is a terrific selection of pizzas to choose from, and no doubt all equally as delicious. There is also a selection of pastas to enjoy as well. The desserts were also incredible. To keep my Italian-themed evening going, I went for their tiramisu, which was light, creamy goodness, and I didn't want it to end!

This is a definitely a must-visit on your next Paris trip, but don't forget to make a booking beforehand as it's a hot place to go!
